Q: What does your company do and how long has it been in operation?
A:
STS Telecom was founded in 1994 as a long distance reseller. Currently, STS provides local services (facility-based), data services, IT managed services, and VoIP services, including IP managed services, SIP trunking, IP interconnect products and services, call management services, MPLS and dedicated private lines.

Q: To what do you attribute your company’s success in the communications industry?
A:
We attribute our company’s success to quality engineering, relationship selling, referrals, excellence in customer service, and excellence in our end-user performance.

Q: What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced in the marketplace?
A:
STS originally entered into local services as a UNE-P provider.  When the FCC’s Triennial Review Remand Order (TRRO) gave CLECs one year to transition customers to new or other services, we met this challenge and overcame the barriers and converted significant portions of this base to “facilities-based IP managed services”.  STS’ current focus is on the SMB market with superior IP products.

Q: What do you see as your greatest challenges going forward?
A:
STS has grown through what is termed “bootstrap financing” we have little to no debt.  STS intends on bringing our commitment of high-end quality managed services for the SMB market to other demographics on the east coast.  STS had intended on funding this growth through the capital markets, it appears that we will continue our growth through “bootstrap financing.”  We will see what the future will bring.

Q: What have been some of your company’s most recent achievements?
A:
STS has developed (with patents pending) significant software for our OSS called TITAN.  This enables the company to track all aspects of operations and switching in an automated paperless environment.  STS also developed an automated product pricing quoting engine for sales and marketing for our direct salesperson and independent contractors for all of the company’s products, which, when populated, will integrate seamlessly into TITAN.  Further, STS will launch in the fourth quarter of this year and first quarter of next year a new suite of SIP trunking products, a high-end automated call distribution hosted software product for medium and enterprise customer call centers, and a suite of new IT-managed services.

Q: Why is it important for your company to be a COMPTEL member?
A:
It is becoming apparent with recent events that business as usual in the USA is ending.  The capital market meltdown will affect all businesses and all Americans.  This country’s position on “regulatory agencies” is quickly changing from a “hands off” approach, to a tightly gripped “hands on” approach.  Unless we become part of the change, we will most likely become a victim of it.
