Q: What does your company do and how long has it been in operation?
A: With one of the largest fiber-optic networks in Southern California, we provide wholesale services to more than forty carriers in this market.  Our network has over 3600+ route miles with connectivity to 145+ locations including Carrier Hotels and POPs, and AT&T and Verizon central offices.  We focus on delivery of private line, SONET, managed wavelength service, dark fiber and wireless attachments to our customers.
We are a business unit of Southern California Edison (SCE), an electric utility, with a history in electricity and telecommunications for over 100 years. We began providing dark fiber and property infrastructure to carriers in 1994. With the installation of the utility’s fiber-optic network we further extended our network and launched Edison Carrier Solutions, a facilities-based competitive local exchange carrier, in 1999.

Q: To what do you attribute your company’s success in the communications industry?
A: We have a dedicated team of people who pride themselves on delivering high service levels to customers.  And we know how important it is to customers that we are a competitively priced service provider in this market.  We are easy to do business with and we find creative solutions that allow our network to become their network.   With a continued focus on meeting customer needs, this has continued to allow us to differentiate ourselves from the competition.

Q: What have been some of your company’s most recent achievements (new customer wins, new service/product deployment, etc.)?
A: With network facilities in place where other carriers can’t typically justify expansion, we are well positioned to provide wireless carriers with a backhaul alternative at their cell sites.  As demand for bandwidth grows, and strong interest from wireless providers continues, this is creating unique opportunities to provide these carriers with an excellent alternative to the incumbent-dominated backhaul arena.

Q: Why is it important for your company to be a COMPTEL member?
A:
In serving the interests of the competitive communication services providers, COMPTEL allows us to be connected with the companies that we also want to serve.
